Business Recycling Ordinance
Remember... recycling isn't a voluntary thing, it's the law.
Effective January 1, 2002, the Mecklenburg County Commissioners enacted an ordinance for mandatory recycling in an effort to curb solid wastes in Mecklenburg County. It was determined that 78% of all the waste collected was from non-residential waste.
In an effort to ensure we are abiding by this county ordinance, we would like to point out some of the following isues that we have observed within the building and would appreciate your assistance in correcting:
- Office paper being thrown in trash cans and not in recycling bins
- Cardboard being thrown away and not recycled
- Paper ream wrappers being put in the recycling cans- this type paper is not recyclable and must be thrown away
- Throwing trash and non-recyclable debris in the recycling bins
Please note that both the North and South sides of each floor have recycling bins located in the work place for associate use. These bins are collected and emptied weekly by Secured Data. There is also a cardboard recycling dumpster located in the Trade Center loading dock for recycling cardboard, which the Trade Center janitorial vendor uses when pulling trash on a nightly basis if possible.
